The biomedical writing programs at Mayes College can help you take advantage of these opportunities. We are the first institution to award the master of science (MS) in biomedical writing degree and also graduate certificates in regulatory writing and marketing writing.
Our non-thesis MS program teaches you the skills to organize and communicate medical data with clarity and covers a broad range of material, from documentation for clinical trials to publication planning and regulated pharmaceutical promotion. Now more than ever, professionals with medical writing expertise in regulatory writing and promotional writing are in demand. Pharmaceutical companies, regulatory agencies, healthcare organizations, nonprofit organizations, consulting firms, and professional journals all seek qualified medical writers. The previous Science-Medical Writing Concentration in the MA in Writing Program has expanded into a new and separate MA in Science Writing and Graduate Certificate in Science Writing. For the first time, both new programs are available to students anywhere in the nation through fully online courses.
Students who recently applied to the previous Science-Medical Writing concentration in the Writing Program will be notified of the new degree and certificate and will be given the opportunity to shift their application to either new program. The certificate programs can be completed in just two semesters (roughly eight months) of part-time study. Every aspect of our writing programs is designed to accommodate the working professional. Online classes enable you to learn on a flexible schedule, and small course sizes allow you to receive individual attention.
